Have you suddenly felt intense pain in your hands or knees? Or have you been complaining about severe fatigue and decreased stamina lately? You may be suffering from a type of arthritis known as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) which is an autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation and pain in the joints. This is a very serious disease in which a person’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own healthy body tissue which in turn causes chronic pain in the joints, and extreme tiredness and affects other parts of the body in the long run. Looking for more information about the best ways to treat pain from rheumatoid arthritis? Check out acupuncture Broomfield.

Though Rheumatoid Arthritis is common in older people, it can also occur in men, women, and children of all ages. And according to studies, if you have a family member with this condition, it will most likely increase the possibility of you also developing this disease. Also, women are also most likely to develop this condition than men.

The joint pain experienced by people who have RA is usually a throbbing and aching pain that can range from mild to severe. Some people who experience mild symptoms such as fatigue and joint stiffness have no big impact on the person’s day-to-day activities. However, more severe symptoms are harder to ignore and can affect a person’s ability to move around. Good thing is that Acupuncture for rheumatoid arthritis can help in alleviating the pain.

Though there is no known cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis, here are some ways for you to easily manage the pain and somehow relieve the discomfort for a period of time:

1. Take your medications as prescribed

Though there is no cure for RA, certain medications are prescribed by doctors to reduce the inflammation somehow and relieve the aching. Some over-the-counter NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen can also temporarily relieve the pain. However, it is important to know that these medications if taken frequently can cause damage to the liver. So, take it responsibly.

2. Exercise

This one word can change your life. We know. How can you exercise when you feel like your joints are detaching from your body, right? However, there are recommended exercises that you can do to somehow relieve the pain and make your joints feel better. Talk to your doctor or therapist about the best exercises you can do.

3. Relax and try meditation

As they say, it’s all in your mind. Research suggests that meditation can be an effective approach to pain relief. Getting your mind into a relaxed state can make your brain less sensitive to pain and somehow relieve it. Though it cannot take the pain entirely or magically heal your RA, it can help reduce the pain with no medications needed.

4. Eat a healthy and balanced diet

Just like meditation, eating healthier will not magically make your RA go away but it will somehow make your body cope with pain. And no, drinking alcohol will not make the pain go away but will worsen it. So, stick with healthy foods such as fatty fish, fruits and veggies, and whole grains. Your joints will thank you.

5. Try Acupuncture for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Acupuncture has been known to help in relieving all kinds of chronic pain. And RA is not an exemption. This form of alternative medicine that involves pricking the skin or tissues with fine needles has been used for thousands of years to alleviate chronic pain and treat various conditions.
