Sports Medicine Acupuncture combines the principles of the ancient wisdom and techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with modern sports medicine science and assessment. It is a comprehensive and integrated approach to treating pain, sports injuries, and postural imbalances. Sports medicine acupuncture is also an effective treatment to improve range of motion.
Using orthopedic and manual muscle testing, I can determine the exact location of muscle imbalance, pain or soft tissue lesion. I use specific acupuncture points to correct overactive or inhibited muscle fibers, and motor point needling techniques to reset the affected muscles.
I use soft tissue release and mobilizations, postural assessment, PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) stretches, exercises and other specialized treatment techniques to correct postural imbalances. Often the pain relief my patients experience is immediate.
Many athletes are now using acupuncture to maintain healthy tissues, respond to injury and increase their athletic performance. Acupuncture increases circulation and blood flow in tissue, whether it’s a muscle, tendon, ligament, and bursa.
Follow-up treatments are often necessary to maintain optimal functioning and healing of tissue.
